Authors of January

The new year is here, and with the arrival of 2014 comes the time-honored tradition of new year’s resolutions. We at the Elliott Bay Book Company resolve to read more books in the new year, and in turn share our new discoveries with you. That’s a resolution that we look forward to fulfilling.

Join us in the bookstore this month as we welcome 67-year-old debut novelist James Whitfield Thomson reading from his book Lies You Wanted to Hear on January 6th; “simple living” advocate and Seattle resident Vicki Robin joins us on the 13th to discuss her new book Blessing the Hands that Feed Uson January 16th Olivia Laing discusses the links between famous writers and alcohol in her new book The Trip to Echo Spring; Washington State poet laureate Kathleen Flenniken and other Seattle poets join us on January 23rd for an evening of poetry memorializing William Stafford and celebrating the release of Ask Me: 100 Essential Poems of William Stafford; and on January 28th acclaimed writer Armistead Maupin reads from the ninth and final book in his Tales of the City series, The Days of Anna Madrigal.

These are just a few of the amazing authors visiting the bookstore this January. We look forward to seeing you in the new year!
